Earthquakes and Other Geohazards in a Time of Pandemic

banner-covid-earthquakes

This Working Group, which examines geohazards such as earthquakes, landslides, volcanoes, and tsunamis in the time of COVID-19, explores impacts on affected communities with a particular focus on vulnerable groups and the people who serve these communities. The mission of the group is to identify both the amplification and the attenuation of hazards and risks during the time of COVID-19. To do so, the group will be examining case studies including monitoring systems (ShakeAlert), and scenarios (Haywired), to better understand how these technologies and approaches can advance natural hazards mitigation and pandemic preparedness.
