This webinar showcased new resources to manage and publish your data securely and in compliance with data protection best practices. Specifically, participants learned how to publish data, data collection instruments, and research protocols permanently via the DesignSafe Cyberinfrastructure.
This brief webinar also featured three CONVERGE Data Ambassadors. They shared their experiences publishing with DesignSafe and lessons learned to help the broader social science and interdisciplinary research community to use this resource. In preparation for the webinar, participants were encouraged to:
- create a DesignSafe Account at https://www.designsafe-ci.org/;
- view available Publish Your Data! event resources; and
- meet the CONVERGE Data Ambassadors and review materials published by social scientists in the DesignSafe repository.
About DesignSafe: DesignSafe is a web-based research platform for the NSF-funded Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI). DesignSafe provides computational tools needed to manage, analyze, and understand critical data for natural hazards research. It supports research workflows, data analysis, and data visualization.
About the CONVERGE Data Ambassadors Program: CONVERGE Data Ambassadors have completed an NSF-supported Publish Your Data! training session. As Data Ambassadors, they have committed to publishing their own data and instruments on DesignSafe in order to share newly attained knowledge with other researchers and practitioners in the hazards and disaster field. CONVERGE Data Ambassadors will help usher in a culture shift toward data publication and data and instrument sharing across disciplines.
CONVERGE is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Civil, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Innovation, Program on Humans, Disasters, and the Built Environment (Award #1841338).
